of the Mare Nostrum association is to maintain and enhance the competitiveness of Croatian shipping on the global and European markets while respecting and promoting a culture of security and protection of the marine environment.
The association achieves this mission by representing the interests of its members in the appropriate bodies at the national, regional, European, and global levels.
The association continuously and persistently cultivates a culture of dialogue both among its members and with the appropriate bodies, other associations, and the scientific and professional public to promote the goals of the association and to increase awareness of the importance of maritime affairs, but especially the shipping industry.
Mare Nostrum advocates the principles of excellence and promotesa quality shipping industry.
Mare Nostrum is the centralplace for discussions on all of the important professional questions in the shipping industry, the co-creator of maritime policy, and the central place for analyzing the future of the shipping industry. Mare Nostrum encourages innovativeness and development, gathering knowledge and providing counsel to its members.
In carrying out its mission, Mare Nostrum cooperates with social partners, other related professional associations, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, recognized organizations and prominent bodies, maritime schools, other academic institutions, and the university community.
Mare Nostrum represents the interests of its members and promotes solutions to questions of interest to the shipping industry in the Croatian parliament, especially before the committee responsible for that industry, the appropriate ministries, and other institutions.
Mare Nostrum actively participates in the work of the European Shipowners' Association. Through this association it articulates, implements, and protects the interest of its members before European bodies.
Mare Nostrum represents the interest of its members in international maritime organizations and the International Labour Organization.
Mare Nostrum has been a recognized, reliable and successful representative of the interests of the Croatian shipping industry at the national, European and global levels.

In achieving our mission and vision, Mare Nostrum works in particular on creating satisfactory conditions for the shipping industry, especially in regard to the registration and certification of ships, tax policies, competitive employment conditions, satisfactory financing and insurance conditions, and the reduction of administrative barriers to business.
