Meeting of Supervisory Board and Assembly of the Croatian Shipowners' Mare Nostrum

On February 16, 2021, the 19th session of the Supervisory board was held online and on February 18, 2021, the 100. session of the Assembly of the Croatian Shipowners' Association Mare Nostrum was held at the premises of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure.

GUTTA Webinar

Croatian Shipowners' Associaton Mare Nostrum participates as a project partner on the GUTTA project.

We are happy to announce that the leading project partner, Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change Foundation (CMCC) organizes the the upcoming GUTTA webinar “You better watch out: learning how to prevent, tame and mitigate a pandemic (COVID-19)”, taking place on February 9, 2021, at 12.30 pm CET. Organized with the support of the CMCC Foundation, the webinar will explore the role played by human mobility in the spread of COVID-19, with a special focus on some new results on the impact of maritime passenger transport for the emergence of a second wave in Croatia in September/October 2020.

On January 27, 2021, in Rijeka, a meeting was held related to the new hydrogen-related maritime projects in Croatia. The meeting gathered Jadrolinija and members of the Croatian Hydrogen Association H2 Cell.

Cadet welfare and the issue of seafarers due to the COVID-19 pandemic

On January 26, 2021 in the premises of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, a working meeting was held related to the cadet  welfare and the issue of seafarers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In all, some 400,000 people are currently stranded on vessels, and a similar number are prevented from returning to ships, either to earn their living or to return home, due to COVID-19 restrictions on travel and transit.

New National Collective Agreements

On December 30, 2020, Croatian Shipowners' Association Mare Nostrum together with the Seafarers' Union of Croatia signed a National Collective Agreement for Croatian Seafarers on Board Ships in International Shipping Trade which is valid from January 1, 2021, until December 31, 2022.

Moreover, on January 13, 2021, the National Collective Agreement for non – EU seafarers on Board Ships of Croatian Nationality in International Shipping Trade was signed. The Agreement is valid from January 14, 2021 until December 31, 2022.

We are thankful to the Negotiating Committee and our social partner, the Croatian Seafarers' Union, for successful communication and cooperation.
